Groundhog Day

Thanks to Gina for finding this gem on J-Walk:

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address fall on the same day.

As Air America Radio pointed out, "It is an ironic juxtaposition: one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, and the other involves a groundhog."

It's brilliant, and that might be why you've seen it elsewhere as it is quickly making its way around the blogosphere, including
La Voice, Code Pink, Philly Blog, Voices from Catland , and countelss others. Here's the kicker: it looks like the original quote comes from a post on Slashdot last year when the two events were actually on the same day.

The State of Union is tomorrow, and Groundhog Day is February 2.
