Remembering Maxwell

maxwell

This photo was taken on November 28, 2002 (Thanksgiving), and it's the last picture I ever took of him. He died two years ago on March 20, 2003, exactly one year and one week after his initial diagnosis.

I still miss him very much.

He died in my arms at 1:00 am. On March 19, Bush had declared war on Iraq. It was like Max wanted to not be part of that world. I like to think he was a liberal, like myself! He was always sitting with me while I was on the computer reading online newspapers, or next to me when I listened to the radio, or on the newspaper I was trying to read.

He was a terrific friend and companion. He was only seven; just one month short of his 8th birthday. Pancreatic cancer is a bitch.

Today I remember Maxwell, and I'm thankful for the time we had together.

I'm so sorry you lost such a beautiful pet! I just lost my dog on Feb. 17th, she was 7, died of kidney failure. Our love for them never dies. I think it's great you did a tribute on your blog. I did an obit on mine for Pepper. Take care.
